Crawfish Boil FAQs

LSU Alumni of San Diego Crawfish Boil - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What time should I get there?
A:  As early/late as you want. Gates open at 10am for Tiger Tent ticket holders; General admission tickets enter at 11am. There is a separate entrance for Tiger Tent tickets, just south (or to the left) of the main entrance. At each entrance there will be a line for those bringing in ice chests, and a line for those w/o bags or ice chests to search. Music starts at 11am. Seating is assigned so you'll still have a place to sit even if you come late. Crawfish should be ready for pick up around 1:15pm. The party's over at 5pm. Best to come early, get the best parking, avoid the entry gate lines, and enjoy the fun.

Q: How do I get there?
A: You can drive, carpool or take the trolley to Qualcomm Stadium.

Driving Directions:   Enter Qualcomm Stadium at the main Gate off Friars Road, Mission Village Drive and San Diego Mission Road. The event will be held on the large grassy area in the southwest corner adjacent to parking area J5. Parking included with admission. The driver must have a ticket to show the Parking attendant.

Trolley: Check online for schedule & fare. http://www.sdmts.com/trolley/trolley.asp It's Memorial Day week-end, so best to confirm schedule in advance.

Q: I'd like to bring my friend in a wheelchair. Is there any accommodation for guests with disabilities?
A: By all means bring your friend. Handicapped parking spaces are marked with cones and yellow caution tape. There is a separate entry line for those with disabilities; look for signs. The tables meet ADA recommenced height. And there are wheelchair accessible porta-potties on site.

Q: A big practice field means no shade. Can I bring a beach umbrella or canopy tent and erect it over the table?
Yes, many do. But stakes are not allowed.  Everything must be free standing as underground electrical wires criss-cross the field.  You don't want to be responsible for causing a power outage. Otherwise wear sunscreen and a big hat!

Q: I'm bringing my whole family. What about my kids?
A: There's an open area within the fenced enclosure where the kids can run around in addition to the green space near your tent. Children (ages 4-12 will need a kids ticket. Kids under 4 do not need a ticket.) Kids tickets get you a hot dog, plus complimentary waters & sodas — but no chairs for their $13.00 ticket. Table seating is not provided for children. Bring a beach chair for them. Only Adult ticket holders are entitled to seating at their assigned table. Look for the Mad Hatter booth in the vendor area; kids & adults love it.

Q:  Beer? Will I have beer with my crawfish if the crawfish is served around 1:30 and beer is cut off at 2pm -- what's the story here?
A: Beer is included with admission and served until 2pm; after that it's still available for purchase at a mere $3 each.

Q: What if I don't drink beer?
Non-alcoholic beverages (i.e. sodas, water) are included with your admission and available in tents in each corner of the venue. Wines can also be purchased on-site, for an additional charge. Feel free to bring an ice chest with your favorite no-alcoholic drinks. Just remember NO Glass or Alcohol are allowed on the premises; this is strictly enforced and inspected at the Gate.

Q: I'm allergic to shellfish and my friend is a vegetarian. Can we get a reduced price?
A: Unfortunately, no exceptions. The price covers more than the crawfish. It covers expenses for the bands, site permits, security, party rentals, porta-potties and more. It's also a fundraiser for LSU scholarships, fellowships and local charities. Proceeds go to good causes -- Louisiana education and local non-profits.

Q: Can I bring my own food & drink?
A: Yes, you can bring you own food & non-alcoholic beverage in non-glass containers. Many people bring snacks & side dishes to share with tablemates. It's a party!

Q: Is other food sold on site?
A:  Yes, several vendors will be selling cajun food, pizza, ice cream and more.

Q: What about other vendors? Anything else for sale?
A: LSU San Diego will be selling Crawfish boil souvenir T-shirts. The LSU Alumni Assoc will be selling LSU logo items.

Q: What happens to the leftover crawfish if any? Can I buy some to take home?
A:   You can purchase Crawfish to Geaux on your way out of the event.  First come, first served…Cash Only. Often times there are excess boxes for sale on a first come first served basis;  bring cash to our CRawfish to Geaux booth before you leave.

Remember -- NO soccer balls, footballs, corn hole games, glass, alcohol, commercial signs/tents, pets or BBQs or open flames.
